Everton could pay £40 million to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to a report.

Everton are still interested in signing Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to Wales Online.
The Toffees sealed a £26 million deal for Dutch attacker Davy Klaassen on Thursday.
It was a move which prompted suggestions that it could spell the end of Everton’s interest in signing the 27-year-old from Swansea.

But according to Wales Online, Everton boss Ronald Koeman has retained an affinity for the Iceland playmaker in spite of Klaassen’s arrival.
The Dutch manager bid £25 million for the ex-Spurs man last season (via The Telegraph) but the report from Wales Online suggested that Koeman could now stump up the £40 million needed to prise him from the South-Welsh outfit.

Everton are not short of a few quid following Farhad Moshiri’s takeover of the Merseyside club last summer, but The Sun reported that they could be set for a £70 million fee if Romelu Lukaku joins Chelsea.
With Ross Barkley also expected to command a very sizeable fee, it would appear as if the Toffees could afford Sigurdsson at £40 million – but time will tell whether they sign him.
