Everton are reportedly still interested in signing Manchester United defender Luke Shaw on loan.

Shaw has endured a turbulent time since moving to Old Trafford in 2014, with injury and questions about his form and attitude seeing him spend long periods out of the side and often only provide glimpses of his true potential.

He has started to win Jose Mourinho round in recent weeks, having started United’s last four games in all competitions, including the 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on New Year’s Day.

Right-back Cuco Martina has predominantly been used on the left this season with Leighton Baines injured, and it is generally accepted amongst the Everton fans that they do need to start considering potential long-term successors for Baines, and Martina does not appear to be that man.
Whether United will have any interest in letting Shaw go this month remains to be seen – though it does seem doubtful right now simply based on how much he has played lately – but there is no doubt that he would arguably be a very good addition to Allardyce’s squad for the rest of the season if they do manage to get something done.
