Everton still believe that they can get a deal for Fikayo Tomori done soon, despite the move seemingly being held up recently, the Daily Mirror report.

Everton appeared to be on the verge of signing Tomori last week, with ESPN saying that the move was in the ‘advanced stages’.

However, things seemed to have gone quiet on that front, with Everton and Chelsea both giving little away.

The Mirror have now reassured Toffees fans that the transfer is still on, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side reportedly have belief that they will get the deal over the line for the player who Frank Lampard described as ‘very fast’ last season (Football London).

If Tomori does join Everton he should help tighten up their defence, although he may be hard pressed to find his way into the team right now.

Yerry Mina and Michael Keane were rock solid on opening day, as Everton kept a clean-sheet and beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.

Dropping either of the pair now would be extremely harsh by Ancelotti, and it may be that Tomori has to stay patient if he does join Everton soon, as he waits for first-team chances.
