Everton’s John Stones has reportedly snubbed a move to Barcelona.
England’s John Stones
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona have failed in a move to sign Everton defender John Stones – and now believe that he wants to join Manchester City.
Stones, 22, has become a major star since his 2013 move from Barnsley to Goodison Park, producing a host of outstanding displays and ultimately impressing with his ability to bring the ball out from defence.

An England international who could feature at the European Championships, Stones has actually had some struggles over the past season.
Stones had some shaky displays under Roberto Martinez, and many criticise him for trying to play too much football at the back, rather than simply clear the ball away from danger.

That hasn’t deterred teams from targeting him though, and the Daily Mail report that Barcelona have made a move for Stones, as they see him as a long-term replacement for Javier Mascherano in the heart of defence.
However, it’s claimed that Stones, through his agent Paul Martin, rejected the move to the Camp Nou in a stunning move – but the Catalan giants think they know why.

The report adds that Barcelona believe Stones is desperate to sign for Manchester City and their new manager Pep Guardiola, with City able to pay more than Barcelona can right now.
Whether Guardiola will actually move for Stones remains to be seen, but his playing style of playing out from the back certainly fits well with the Spaniard’s philosophy.
