Everton are reportedly keen on Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias.

According to Marca, Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias has rejected any notion of a move to Everton, with the Toffees allegedly set to activate his €28million (£25million) release clause.

Everton beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, but Marco Silva’s side have struggled to produce consistent results in front of goal of late.

Richarlison’s goals have dried up a little, scoring only once in the last seven games, and with Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun out of favour, another striker may be on the radar.

Marca now report that Everton were all set to activate the €28million (£25million) release clause in Borja Iglesias’s contract, forcing Espanyol into a sale.

However, Iglesias has allegedly snubbed their proposal, and has made it clear that he is staying with Espanyol at least until the end of the season, rather than leaving this month.

Iglesias, 25, only joined Espanyol from Celta Vigo this past summer, and he has impressed in Barcelona with nine goals and two assists in 18 La Liga appearances.

A big, physical target man with great aerial ability, Iglesias could have provided something different to Silva’s attacking options, but no move will be happening this month as things stand.

Things could change of course, but it seems more likely that, if Everton remain keen on Iglesias, they may need to wait until summer to activate that clause and bring the Spaniard to Goodison Park.
