Everton have been chasing Sunderland goalkeeper for Jordan Pickford, as they look to add a new number one.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is set to move to Everton in the summer.

Sunderland’s relegation has effectively ended any hope they had of keeping hold Pickford.

The 23-year-old stopper has been in brilliant form this season, proving that he is already capable of playing at Premier League level.

And Everton have moved quickly to leap ahead of their rivals for the youngster’s signature.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United have all been credited with an interest in Pickford, but Everton are thought to be confident of signing the England youth international.

The Toffees are set to launch a £17 million bid for Pickford in the near future, which will come close to Sunderland’s asking price.

If Pickford moves to Everton he is likely to go straight into Ronald Koeman’s starting line-up, as the Dutch boss is thought to be unconvinced by both Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg.
