According to La Provence, Everton sent scout Habib Bamogo to watch Marseille beat Brest 3-1 on Saturday.
Marseille ran out comfortable winners as Arkadiusz Milik, Florian Thauvin and Michael Cuisance all got themselves on the scoresheet.
It’s claimed that Bamogo was spotted at the Stade Velodrome, and he was easily recognisable as a former Marseille player.
Bamogo allegedly stated that he was there to watch ‘all the players’ with a smile on his face, keeping his cards close to his chest – but the report claims he was focusing on Brest players.
Bamogo played a key role in Everton signing Niels Nkounkou from Marseille last summer, but the Toffees could instead look to raid Brest this time.
The leading contender would have to be winger Romain Faivre, given that the 22-year-old has hit five goals and four assists in 29 games this season.
Faivre can also play in central midfield, and his creativity could be very valuable to Everton going forward, especially with James Rodriguez suffering injury problems.

Leeds United want Faivre according to L’Equipe, whilst the Whites also want Brest teammate Romain Perraud according to Le10 Sport.
It seems unlikely that Everton will splash the cash on Perraud given that they already have a star French left back in Lucas Digne, but he could offer more proven cover than Nkounkou right now, meaning he can’t be ruled out.
Both players lasted the full 90 minutes against Marseille, but if we had to back one of the Leeds targets to be on the Everton radar, we would suggest Faivre over Perraud.
News of Bamogo targeting Brest players should spark Leeds into life over Perraud and Faivre, as they surely won’t want to risk losing out to a Premier League rival.
