Julian Chabot shone for Germany’s U21s against Spain on Thursday but will he swap Serie A for the Premier League if The Toffees come calling?

Everton are interested in signing Sampdoria centre-back Julian Chabot with Tuttomercatoweb claiming that The Toffees watched the youngster in action for Germany’s U21s on Thursday.
In a rematch of that thrilling U21 European Championship final which Spain edged 2-1 in June, the two nations went head to head once again in a friendly on Wednesday night with this meeting ending in a 1-1 draw.
Chabot started in the heart of Germany’s defence and produced a performance full of class and maturity, helping to limit the impact of Spain star and Dinamo Zagreb talisman Dani Olmo throughout the 90 minutes.
So Everton will no doubt have been impressed by the 6ft 5ins stopper. He is apparently a potential target for a Toffees side whose lack of defensive depth has been a cause for real concern since the start of the season.

Marco Silva’s side failed to replace either Phil Jagielka or Kurt Zouma but Chabot could be an astute and affordable signing in the January transfer window. The former RB Leipzig youngster honed his trade in Holland with Sparta Rotterdam and Groningen before joining Sampdoria in May for around £3 million.
Strong in the air and fierce in the tackle, it would be a surprise if Sampdoria were willing to sell Chabot after just a few months in Italy but they could find it difficult to turn down a substantial profit if Everton come calling.
