Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has become a target for Manchester United, but Marco Silva wants to keep him.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have managed to fend off interest from Manchester United in Idrissa Gueye.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men had wanted to take Gueye from Everton, but the Toffees are refusing to budge from their asking price of over £35 million.

Gueye is 29, and United feel that Everton are over-pricing a player who has little re-sale value.

The Toffees are determined to keep the Senegalese central midfielder though.

Everton fought hard to keep Gueye out of PSG’s clutches in January, and they are now determined to ensure that he doesn’t move to Old Trafford this summer.

Gueye played a vital role for Marco Silva’s side last season, and is expected to be a key member of Everton’s team again next term.

If Gueye does stick around it would be a major boost for the Toffees, as they look to improve next term.

Everton finished in eighth place in the Premier League this season, but they have ambitions to trouble the upper echelons in the coming years.
