According to the Mirror, citing Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Everton saw a £33.6 million bid for Yacine Brahimi rejected on deadline day.
The Blues were linked with the winger for much of the summer and were widely expected to complete a deal before the transfer window slammed shut on Wednesday.
They failed to secure the Algerian though, in what proved to be a highly frustrating deadline day for them.

However, it transpires they did their best to get him to Goodison Park as they saw a late bid for his services rejected.
According to the Mirror, who cite O Jogo in Portugal, they bid £33.6 million to try and get a deal completed but that offer was rejected by Porto.

The newspaper reports that the Portuguese giants were hoping that Liverpool, who had been linked with Brahimi in the past, would come in with a bigger and better offer for the forward to trump their rivals’ approach.
That bid did not arrive, though, leaving Everton frustrated and the player still in Portugal despite the Blues obvious desire to take him to Merseyside.
