Everton are ‘ready to close for’ one of two goalkeepers, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Everton were strongly linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Paulo Gazzaniga earlier on deadline day.
But the Toffees’ new man between the sticks will be either Sergio Romero of Manchester United, or a name that had yet to crop up – Roma’s Robin Olsen.
The profiles of both Romero and Olsen are said to have been ‘identified by the management’ at Everton.
But it remains to be seen which of the pair, if any, will be Everton bound.
Olsen, who is the current Swedish number one, moved to Roma from FC Copenhagen in an £8.1 million deal two years ago.
But despite playing 35 times in his maiden season in Rome, the 30-year-old was loaned to Cagliari last term.

Olsen was linked with a move to Celtic earlier in the summer transfer window.
He would compete with Jordan Pickford, Joao Virginia and Jonas Lossl if he moves to Everton.
