Everton appear to have given up trying to sign Manchester United’s Memphis Depay permanently, but a deal may not be off the table entirely.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Everton have been put off a permanent move for Manchester United winger Memphis Depay, but a potential deal may not be completely out of the question.
The Mail reports that the Netherlands international – who is also attracting the attention of Lyon – could be allowed to leave Old Trafford this month, but the Toffees would have to pay £15 million to make a move happen.

However, the Mail adds that the Merseyside club are not currently willing to pay that amount for the 22-year-old, and have thus, pulled the plug on any plans to try and sign him permanently.
It is somewhat understandable that Everton have taken a slightly more cautious approach on Depay, given the other business that they have already done in this window.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
Ronald Koeman’s squad has already been boasted with the £10 million acquisition of Ademola Lookman (via Daily Mail), while Morgan Schneiderlin (via Sky Sports) and Ishak Belfodil (via Guardian) look like they could soon be following him through the door at a combined cost of £32.4 million.
But Everton are not ruling out a move for Depay altogether. The Mail reports that the Toffees may return later on in the window with a loan bid, which may ultimately suit all parties as if he struggles to find his feet, Koeman will not have to worry about how to get him off their books.
