Everton are in the process of walking away from talks to sign Enner Valencia and pursuing alternative targets, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Valencia joined the Toffees on loan from West Ham United last August, in a deal which is said to contain an option to buy the Ecuadorian for around £11 million.

However, with Valencia appearing just 23 times for Ronald Koeman’s side – of which only seven were as a starter – it is claimed the Dutchman wants to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.

And according to the Echo, Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson and Manchester United’s former Everton striker Wayne Rooney remain on the Toffees’ wishlist.

Last month, Everton fans on social media expressed reservations about buying the West Ham player outright.

It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old still has a future at the London Stadium. Earlier this month, reports in Mexico suggested Valencia was being lined up for a move to Pachuca – the club from which West Ham signed him initially.
