Jonjoe Kenny has been one of the real shining lights for Everton this season, and is now in line for a new contract.

According to a report from The Sun, Everton are planning to reward Jonjoe Kenny for his fine start to the season by handing the young right-back a new contract at Goodison Park.

Kenny went into this campaign very much on the periphery of the squad, having only made two previous Premier League appearances for the Toffees – but he has certainly made the most of the increased number of chances he has enjoyed this term.

The 20-year-old has made nine top flight appearances this season, and has genuinely not looked out of place at the highest level, often proving to be one of the Merseyside outfit’s more impressive performers in what has been a disappointing start to the campaign.

And he looks set to hand the Toffees a sizeable boost, with The Sun reporting that he is on the verge of finalising terms on a new deal at Goodison Park.

The Sun adds the academy graduate’s current deal expires at the end of next season, so you would imagine that had the Toffees not acted soon, there would have been speculation regarding his future as other teams would have surely been interested had they felt that the door was open for a potential move.

But the door looks set to be slammed shut. And he will be hoping that he can continue to play a key part in Everton’s season as Sam Allardyce’s men continue their fightback after poor start.
