Everton are reportedly prepared to hand Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere a huge contract.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton are planning an offer to Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, and could offer in excess of £80,000-a-week to sign him.
Wilshere, 26, has come up through the ranks with the Gunners having signed from Luton Town back in 2001, and the midfielder was long touted for a huge future.
However, injuries and competition for places have taken their toll on Wilshere, and his contract expires this summer, with Arsenal seemingly reluctant to hand him a major new deal after his struggles in recent years.
It’s now believed that Everton could swoop in to lure Wilshere to Merseyside this summer, as they hope to secure his signature when his contract expires, handing them a potential bargain on a free transfer.
Moshiri to dig deep?
The report claims that Wilshere will not only be offered a huge signing-on fee to join Everton, but will also beat Arsenal’s £80,000-a-week contract offer.
Whether that will be enough to see Wilshere make the move up north remains to be seen, but Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri – formerly of Arsenal – appears ready to dig deep for the midfielder’s signature.
The England international should feature at the World Cup this summer, and Everton may well hope to have his signature all tied up before the tournament in Russia begins.
With former Arsenal teammate Theo Walcott heading to Goodison Park in January, Wilshere may be tempted to join him – and if Arsenal don’t secure a new deal soon, Everton may well snatch him away.
