The Toffees are hoping to lure the 28-year-old away from their Premier League rivals.
Watford’s Troy Deeney
A report in the Sunday People has claimed that Everton are plotting a January swoop for Watford striker Troy Deeney.
The Toffees’ new director of football Steve Walsh had attempted to sign the 28-year-old during his time with Leicester City – the People reports that they moved for the forward in 2015 and this summer, where they had a £25m bid knocked back – and is hoping that he will now be interested in a move to Goodison Park.

It appears that Everton’s backroom team will have no problem convincing the hierarchy to free up the funds for a winter spending spree. The People adds that the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri was left frustrated by the lack of done deals during the summer, and the plan is to make up for that at the next available opportunity.
While they may have the kind of funds they need to have the bid accepted by the Hornets, it remains to be seen whether Deeney would want to make the switch to Merseyside.

Deeney is the captain at Vicarage Road and only signed a new five-year deal with the club in the summer, so he may feel that he has unfinished business at Watford.
If Everton did land the former Walsall man, he would arguably be a good addition to their squad. Deeney scored 13 goals during his first season in the Premier League, and opened his account for the new campaign in the dramatic win over West Ham on Saturday.
