A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Ross Barkley has given his biggest hint yet that he plans to leave Everton this summer having missed the deadline the Toffees set to make a decision on his future by, leaving Tottenham to consider a potential opening bid.
The Mirror reports that Barkley is about to enter the final year of his deal at Goodison Park and has a new £100,000 a week deal on the table. However, if he decides against agreeing a new deal, Everton will actively attempt to sell the attacking midfielder during the coming months to avoid losing him for virtually nothing next year.
But the Mirror reports that the 23-year-old has now missed the Toffees’ initial deadline to make a decision on his future, which has left Spurs to think about submitting an opening bid for their target.
The Daily Mail recently suggested that Everton would want £50 million for Barkley if he is destined to leave, but the Mirror suggests that the title-challengers opening offer could actually be something much closer to £20 million.

The gulf between the reported valuation and the bid Tottenham may supposedly make certainly suggests however, that there could be a long way to go before Barkley’s future is decided once and for all.
But Everton fans will be hoping that a resolution is reached as soon as possible, especially if Barkley does leave Goodison Park this summer, to give the club the best chance of finding a replacement with plenty of time to spare before the new campaign begins.
