Everton could let Championship target Anthony Gordon leave on loan before Monday’s transfer deadline if Bernard ends up staying on Merseyside, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It seems that a left winger will be departing at some point over the next four days.

Yet it remains to be seen whether it is an exciting academy graduate or a £120,000-a-week Brazil international who will be packing his bags and bidding farewell to the blue half of Merseyside.

The gifted but eternally-ineffectual Bernard is allegedly a target for Al-Nassr.

The Saudi Arabian outfit want to take the former Shakthar Donetsk ace, one of Everton’s highest earners, on a loan deal which could be turned into a £4 million permanent transfer next summer (Fussball Transfers).

Gordon, meanwhile, has received enquiries from a number of unnamed Championship and Bundesliga clubs.

Between them, Bernard and Gordon have been handed just three Premier League starts by Carlo Ancelotti this season.

And, according to the Liverpool Echo, it is unlikely that both will still be at Everton by 2 February.

The Toffees had planned to keep Gordon on the periphery of Ancelotti’s squad, but Everton could change their minds and let the Liverpool-born 19-year-old depart on loan if they fail to offload Bernard.

And, in truth, regular game-time – albeit in a lesser league – could do Gordon’s development the world of good.

There remains a nagging feeling that Gordon is valued higher by the Everton fans than he is by the coaching staff, with Ancelotti seemingly reluctant to give him a chance despite some exhilarating cameo displays in the final weeks of the 2019/20 campaign.
