Wayne Rooney is reportedly nearing a move from Everton to MLS side DC United.
The Sun report that 32-year-old Rooney was set to join DC United and sign a £300,000-a-week contract, saying his goodbyes to Everton last Friday.
But the sacking of Sam Allardyce has delayed the move, and now it is apparent that Moshiri has met with Rooney’s agents in an attempt to gain clarity over whether the Toffees want to keep the former England captain.
The Manchester United icon has a year remaining on his contract at Everton, with the option of extending that deal until the summer of 2020 which will keep Rooney on Merseyside until he is 34.
The 119-time international showed just what he is capable of in glimpses this season, scoring 11 goals in 40 league and cup outings including a wonderful hat-trick against West Ham.
But he has become frustrated since his move from Old Trafford to Goodison Park last summer as Allardyce continually substituted the 119-cap, normally around the hour mark.
But without Allardyce, Rooney could well stay at Goodison Park and see out his contract with his boyhood club.
