The Daily Star claim that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is open to selling Jordan Pickford in the coming weeks.
The England number one’s form has dipped ever since he helped guide the Three Lions to the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Pickford is Everton’s undisputed number, one but his performances in the league have been underwhelming at times. Since the start of the 2018/19 campaign, the Toffees star has made eight errors leading to goals; more than any other player in the Premier League. (Premierleague.com)
The report says Ancelotti fears that the 26-year-old is not reliable enough in between the sticks to help the Toffees achieve their ambitions of finishing in one of the European places next season.
Pickford has had his fair share of criticism over the last two years. Some English fans have even gone on to say that the Everton man should no longer be England’s number one for next summer’s Euros, with Dean Henderson and Nick Pope clearly ahead of him based on recent performances.
Should Everton sell Pickford?
It would make sense for Everton to cash in on Pickford considering that he is worth a lot of money. The fact that he is English and still only 26 makes him a fairly attractive option to a few Premier League sides.

The report reveals that Chelsea could look at Pickford this summer. Frank Lampard’s side have already spent big and, if Everton can get a good offer from them, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them take the deal.
The current financial climate has made it tough for Everton, like most other clubs. The Toffees, as ambitious as they have been over the last few years, will need to raise funds to get a few deals over the line, and Pickford’s sale could help them achieve that.
However, Everton will need to sign a replacement if they decide to sell their number one. It will not be easy to find a goalkeeper who can hit the ground running unless they decide to spend big, which could prove to be difficult in this window.
