Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Besiktas’ Super Lig champion Dusko Tosic in the January transfer window – but Premier League rivals Everton are keen too.

Few would have expected that a 32-year-old centre-back would be one of the most in-demand players in the January transfer window.
Yet, after links with Tottenham Hotspur, Turkish publication Fanatik claims that Everton have joined the chase for Besiktas’ experienced defender Dusko Tosic.
The report states that The Toffees have held talks with the Serbian international. His future at Besiktas has been called into question recently with the Turkish giants seemingly set to sign Croatian Domogoj Vida, who was also linked with Everton recently, in the New Year.

Tosic arrived at Besiktas as a left-back in 2015 but has been converted into a centre-half by respected coach Senol Gunes. The one-time QPR loanee has since helped Besiktas win two straight Super Lig titles while also storming into the knockout rounds of this season’s Champions League thanks to an excellent defensive partnership with the former Real Madrid hero Pepe.
Experienced and versatile, Tosic could be a good short-term solution as new Everton boss Sam Allardyce aims to build from the back at Goodison Park.

Though Everton can expect to face plenty of competition. Fotomac claimed recently that Tottenham Hotspur are very interested in the ageing, 21-cap ace and are willing to offer £9 million in January.
Tosic may not be the most high-profile of signings but he could certainly come in handy with Spurs aiming to fight on both continental and domestic fronts in the second half of this season.
