According to the Daily Express, Everton have offered a new deal to striker Romelu Lukaku – and it would make him their highest-paid player in history.

New manager Ronald Koeman did bring in five first-team players to boost his squad, but the major bonus for the Dutchman is that Romelu Lukaku remains at Goodison Park.
The Belgian striker, 23, joined Everton permanently back in the summer of 2014 having scored 16 times during a season-long loan spell from Chelsea, and he’s continued to score goals for the Toffees ever since.

With 45 goals in the last two seasons, Lukaku has starred for Everton, and keeping him beyond last week’s transfer deadline was a major boost for Koeman and the Toffees as they pursue a return to European football.
Now, the Daily Express report that Everton have offered a new contract to Lukaku in an attempt to keep him at Goodison Park long-term – and it’s a record breaking contract for the club.

It’s claimed that the offer to Lukaku would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, with Farhad Moshiri’s money on offer to keep the powerful striker on Merseyside.
With lofty aspirations and talent to match, it’s unclear whether Lukaku would be willing to commit his long-term future to the Toffees, especially without a buyout clause in the deal – meaning Everton face an anxious wait to see whether Lukaku and agent Mino Raiola accept the club-record deal on offer.
