According to The Evening Standard, Everton are keen on a move for Bournemouth’s Jaidon Anthony as he enters the final year of his contract.

The Cherries ace burst onto the scene last season in the Championship, netting eight goals as Scott Parker’s side secured a return to the Premier League.

Anthony has had something of a meteoric rise over the past 18 months. Back in 2020, he was playing non-league football with Weymouth in the National League South, and he didn’t stand out too much there, scoring just one goal in five appearances in the sixth-tier of English football.

However, opportunity came knocking in the Championship for Anthony last season and he grasped his chance with both hands.

The winger quickly established himself as one of Parker’s most important players, and he’s not looked back since.

He’s now a bona fide Premier League player, and with one year left on his contract, Everton are after the 22-year-old.

The Toffees certainly need to bolster their attacking options in the near future. After all, they’ve just lost Richarlison to Tottenham and a move to Chelsea for Anthony Gordon is seeming more and more likely with each passing day.

As a pacy winger who can make things happen in the final third, Anthony could be just what the doctor ordered at Everton, but, of course, convincing Bournemouth to sell is another matter entirely.

Bournemouth are desperate to beat the drop in the Premier League this season, and selling your best players has never been a winning formula for a club at this level.

Yes, he’s out of contract next year, but cashing in now may not be worthwhile if Bournemouth believe Anthony could be the difference between staying up and going down.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as we enter the final days of the transfer window.
