Everton are reportedly keen on Porto boss Sergio Conceicao.

According to The Times, Everton are interested in landing Porto boss Sergio Conceicao as their new manager this summer as they consider replacements for Sam Allardyce.

The Toffees are edging towards the end of the season with nothing to play, but manager Allardyce is in danger of losing his job after a fairly dull stint in the Goodison Park hot seat.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw with strugglers Southampton summed up Everton’s era under Allardyce, and whilst he only replaced Ronald Koeman in November, Allardyce’s time may be brought to an end – even with a year left on his Everton contract.

Now, The Times report that Everton may be cooling their interest in former target Marco Silva, and are turning their attention to his fellow Portuguese boss Sergio Conceicao of Porto.

Conceicao, 43, may be remembered by many for his playing days in the Portuguese national team, but has now made a name for himself as a manager having won the league title with Porto in his first season of the job, clinching top spot over the weekend after Benfica’s 0-0 draw with Sporting.

The former winger has risen up from jobs with Olhanense, Academica, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes and Nantes, and with a title to his name with Porto, Conceicao appears to have caught Everton’s attention.

Conceicao has earned huge praise for helping Porto return to the summit of Portuguese football after a five-year wait for the title, with his 4-3-3 system working wonders – and he could be a surprise name in the frame to take over from Allardyce and give the Toffees a more exciting brand of football next season and beyond.
