Everton are reportedly joining the race for Armando Izzo.

STADIO OLIMPICO GRANDE TORINO, TURIN, ITALY - 2019

According to Tuttosport in Italy, Everton have registered their interest in signing Torino defender Armando Izzo this summer.

Izzo, 27, joined Torino from Serie A rivals Genoa last summer, moving for a fee of around €10million (£9million) as reported by Football Italia.

Izzo enjoyed a fine season with Torino, helping Walter Mazzarri’s side post one of the best defensive records in Serie A with 15 clean sheets.

Now, it’s believed that Everton have joined the race to sign Izzo, as Marcel Brands looks to land another centre back for the Toffees just in case Kurt Zouma can’t be signed permanently.

Arsenal have been leading the race for Izzo, and his agent has been in London this week to discuss a potential move away for Izzo, but Everton and even Manchester United are thought to have joined in.

Izzo is a solid, dependable centre back, but a move from Everton would be a surprise; he’s not exactly similar to Zouma in terms of physique, standing at just 6ft tall, whilst his age doesn’t fit Brands’ usual type either.

The Italian may be approaching his peak though having excelled with Torino this past season, and beating Arsenal to his signature would be quite the coup given that Everton don’t have European football this coming season.

Torino president Urbano Cairo is standing firm, adamant that Izzo isn’t leaving, but with Premier League interest mounting and agent Paolo Palermo making the rounds, a move may well be on the cards.
