According to Calciomercato, Everton are now very likely to sign Aaron Ramsey in January, as he pushes to leave Juventus.

What’s the story?

Well, the 30-year-old has found chances hard to come by under Massimiliano Allegri this season, and Everton are clearly lurking.

Ramsey has been afforded just 98 minutes of action in Serie A this term, and Calciomercato believe his exit from Turin is a certainty.

They add that Everton are ready to welcome him to Goodison Park.

The Toffees supporters should know all about the Welshman, who racked up 262 Premier League appearances for Arsenal before joining Juventus.

In that time, Ramsey scored 40 goals and provided 46 assists.

Alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan, Ramsey would provide Rafa Benitez with a nice option to compliment his existing midfielders.

Everton must be wary of Newcastle

Calciomercato are writing as if Everton are almost certain to secure Ramsey’s services in January.

However, reports from elsewhere suggest the Toffees should be wary of Newcastle and their newfound wealth, thanks to the Public Investment fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben.

It was another Italian outlet – SportMediaSet – who claimed that the Magpies are preparing a three-year contract for the ex-Cardiff maestro.

Of course, Everton are a big club, and also an attractive destination for most players.

However, Benitez should be wary of his former employers in this situation, as it must be hugely tempting for Ramsey to sign up for what looks to be a revolution on Tyneside.

Managers such as Antonio Conte are being tipped to replace Steve Bruce, so you can see why Ramsey might be swayed by a move to St James’ Park.

Nevertheless, only time will tell. Keep an eye on this saga, as it seems almost certain Ramsey will leave Juventus this winter.

The only question is where he will end up.
