West Ham United are ramping up their efforts to re-sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard – but Everton are now considered a cash bid.

That’s according to The Sunday Mirror (29/08, p74), who claim that West Ham are now moving in to bring Lingard back to East London.

United wanted £25million earlier this summer, but West Ham think they can get him cheaper after the Red Devils brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

West Ham are now believed to be preparing a £15million bid ahead of the transfer deadline – but now there is the threat of Everton.

Rafael Benitez’s men are now though to be considering a bid of their own in the coming hours as the Toffees seek more firepower going forward.

What’s interesting is that West Ham are now close to signing CSKA Moscow star Nikola Vlasic – formerly of Everton – in a £25.7million deal according to The Guardian.

That report claims that West Ham think Vlasic is better value for money than Lingard, most likely because he is only 23; Lingard is 28.

Lingard was sensational at West Ham last season, smashing nine goals in 16 games on loan for the Hammers whilst being called ‘amazing’ by Rio Ferdinand.

If the Vlasic reports are true, Everton could become the favourites for Lingard, all aided by a player they ditched in 2019 having barely given him a chance.
