The Daily Mail claim Brentford have joined Everton, Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson. They have been quoted a figure of £14million to nab the attacker.

Johnson, 20, has returned from a stunning loan spell at League One side Lincoln City to shine for Forest this term. In 48 games for Lincoln last term, Johnson clocked up an enormous 27 goal involvements.

Scoring 13 and laying on 14 assists, Forest decided to bring him back into the senior fold – having previously managed eight outings. This season, he has been first choice – starting 24 of his 25 Championship fixtures.

He has scored five himself, creating four more. That rise has seen him also earn seven caps for Rob Page’s Wales. Of course, his form – at that age – has not gone unnoticed among Premier League clubs with January underway.

With Johnson now in his last 18 months at Forest, The Mail claim five Premier League clubs are keen. Brentford, West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham have been told that Johnson will cost £14million.

Everton, West Ham, Tottenham, Newcastle or Brentford for Johnson?

West Ham have numerous options in the final third, but do have European football to offer – meaning more chances of game time. At Everton, the Toffees brought in Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray in the summer.

Anthony Gordon’s form has been excellent, too. Tottenham have plenty of options and Johnson’s development would stutter. But at Newcastle or Brentford, Johnson would get plenty of game time. £14million is fair.
