Report: Everton move again for Thiago Mendes

Everton boss Marco Silva is said to have made Thiago Mendes his first choice replacement for Idrissa Gueye, if the midfielder leaves.

According to Le10Sport, Everton have sent a new offer to Lille for midfielder Thiago Mendes.

Everton are making contingency plans in case Idrissa Gueye leaves Goodison Park, and have made Mendes his first choice replacement.

La Voix Do Nurd suggest that Everton almost signed Mendes in January for £20 million, and it appears that he has remained on their radar ever since.

Whether Gueye will leave the Toffees remains to be seen, but PSG are said to be interested in the Senegal international.

Everton are no strangers to having to fend off interest in Gueye, but they have always managed to so far.

PSG and Manchester United have both previously been linked with Gueye, but Everton are known not to want to sell.

Gueye is an important part of Marco Silva’s team, and it seems unlikely that they will listen to offers this summer.

However, Mendes’s form in France suggests that if Gueye did leave then he would be able to make a strong replacement at Goodison Park.
