Everton have been handed a much-needed boost following their lacklustre start to the Premier League season, with Idrissa Gueye reportedly agreeing a new deal.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Everton have been handed a timely boost with Idrissa Gueye deciding to commit his long-term future to Goodison Park by signing a new contract.
Gueye has been a fantastic addition to the Toffees side since arriving from Aston Villa for £7 million in the summer of 2016, and the Mail reports that the 28-year-old was attracting plenty of attention during the summer.
But the Mail adds that the Senegal international will now put any talk surrounding his future to bed by signing a new long-term deal with Everton – in a deal that will be music to Ronald Koeman’s ears.
The Toffees have made an extremely lacklustre start to the season. They have won just two of their opening six league games to sit just two places and two points above the relegation zone, while they have also failed to give the supporters anything to cheer in the Europa League.

In fairness to the Merseyside club, they have already contested a number of fixtures where they would have been deemed to be the underdogs going into the games, so their early form is arguably not the fairest indicator of where they are as a team – especially with so many new signings arriving during the summer and their best player moving on during the window also.
But with the international break that is just around the corner surely set to give Koeman a great chance to work on the problems that Everton have encountered so far, having Gueye agree a new contract may provide the boost the Toffees have needed to enable them to put their poor start behind them and focus on bouncing back in the coming months.
