Everton’s shortlist for managers has now been whittled down to just six names, the Athletic report.
Everton were stunned by the news that Carlo Ancelotti moved to Real Madrid, and had no contingency planned for the Italian’s departure.
As a result, the Toffees had to quickly draw up a plan over who they could appoint.
That has led to a whole host of names being linked to the job.
But it seems that Farhad Moshiri and Everton’s board are starting to narrow down the search.
Indeed, the Athletic say that so much progress has been made that Everton have decided upon six potential candidates.

Nuno, Rafael Benitez, Graham Potter, Christophe Galtier, Ralph Rangnick and David Moyes are said to be the options in contention.
With the Telegraph reporting last night that Moyes is now set to sign a new contract with West Ham, it may be that the Toffees’ wishlist is now realistically down to just five names.
Of the candidates Benitez may well be the most controversial choice, given his Liverpool connections.
Meanwhile, Potter and Galtier could stand as the most intriguing.
Potter has done well with Brighton, but has never managed at team with such lofty ambitions as Everton before, while Galtier has just won the Ligue 1 title with Lille.
