Everton are reportedly seriously considering pursuing a change of manager at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger manager

According to a report from the Daily Star, Everton are making regular enquiries to check on Arsene Wenger’s availability as the Arsenal boss gears up for his final two games in charge of the Gunners.

The Toffees have endured a fairly underwhelming season despite the fact that they look well on their way to securing eighth place in the Premier League – in fact, it is Arsenal who could ensure that that is where Sam Allardyce’s men finish as they face Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Everton at Emirates Stadium on February 3, 2018 in London, England.

The Star reports that Allardyce’s Goodison Park future is up in the air and the Everton hierarchy are making plans should they decide to get rid of the Englishman at the end of the season.

According to the Star, the Toffees are regularly checking on Wenger’s situation in the hope that they may be able to tempt him to make the switch to Merseyside once he leaves the Emirates.

It would be interesting to know how Wenger would get on with a Premier League rival should Everton end up parting company with Allardyce and appointing the Frenchman.

Arsene Wenger manager

There does not appear to be too many Arsenal fans who feel that it is the wrong decision for Wenger to go this summer after a few years where only the FA Cup has given them a sense of triumph.

Everton now have high expectations so there is going to probably be a lot of pressure on whoever is in charge next season. But it must not be forgotten that appointing Wenger will surely make the Toffees an even more appealing option to potential targets, and that may allow the club to enjoy a summer that injects plenty of positivity into Goodison Park ahead of the next campaign.
