Everton have reportedly made contact with Southampton over a potential move for Mario Lemina.

According to a report from the Daily Echo, Everton have now made contact with Southampton as they continue to pursue a potential move for Mario Lemina this summer.
The Toffees are looking to bolster their midfield ranks following Idrissa Gueye’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain this week, and Sky Sports reported that the Gabon international was on Marco Silva’s radar.
Lemina appears to be on his way out of St Mary’s. He has not featured for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men in pre-season, and seems to have made no secret of his desire to leave the south coast two years after his move from Juventus.
The Daily Echo reports that Everton have now made an enquiry for the 25-year-old, and they will be hoping to succeed where the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester City all failed in their attempts to land Lemina this summer.

A deal everyone wants?
With the Daily Echo recently suggesting that Southampton have little intention of making further signings before they have offloaded some of their unwanted players, it appears to be in everyone’s best interests for a deal to be struck.

Lemina appears to have little future at St Mary’s while Hasenhuttl remains in charge, and the large majority of Southampton supporters seem to have no plans to mourn his departure if he does leave during this window.
It is no surprise that the Saints appear to be holding out for a significant fee as Lemina – who cost £18.1 million (via BBC Sport) – is clearly a very talented player. But it looks likely that there will plenty of people attached to both clubs willing these talks to lead to a transfer.
