Everton have reportedly made a new move for Lucas Perez.
According to Football.London, Everton are among the clubs to have made bids to sign Arsenal’s unwanted striker Luacs Perez before the transfer deadline later this month.
The Toffees have invested heavily in new signings this summer, with the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney all joining the club.
Tonight, Everton picked up a well-earned 1-1 draw at Manchester City, with Rooney again getting on the scoresheet, and whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin impressed in attack, it’s clear that the Toffees still need to sign another striker having sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United earlier this summer.
Now, Football.London report that Everton are in fact circling back to an old target, as they have made a move to sign Arsenal forward Lucas Perez, who is seemingly surplus to requirements under Arsene Wenger.
It’s claimed that six clubs – Everton, Newcastle, Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, Levante and Valencia – have joined Deportivo La Coruna in submitting offers for Perez, who will surely leave the Emirates Stadium before the end of the transfer window.
The Spaniard, 28, made just 21 appearances for Arsenal last season, and whilst he scored seven goals, he is now well down the pecking order in North London, behind Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and summer signing Alexandre Lacazette.
Perez wants first-team football, and Everton could offer him that, just a year after Arsenal hijacked Everton’s move to sign Perez from Deportivo La Coruna, where he had smashed 24 goals in 59 games, as reported by The Telegraph.
Everton’s transfer chief Steve Walsh appears to still be keen on Perez, and a late window swoop for the striker could be on the cards, if reports this evening are to be believed.
