Everton are reportedly keen on Hajduk Split midfielder Hamza Barry.
According to reports from The Sun, Everton are looking to raid previous Europa League opponents Hajduk Split once again as they pursue Hamza Barry.
The Toffees took on Hajduk in the Europa League qualifiers over the summer, and were so impressed with winger Nikola Vlasic that they moved to sign the Croatian wide man on deadline day.
A lot has changed since that move for Vlasic; Ronald Koeman has lost his job, David Unsworth has been through a testing spell as caretaker boss, and Sam Allardyce has been appointed as the club’s new manager.
However, Everton could yet return for another Hajduk player, as The Sun recently claimed that the Toffees are interested in landing midfielder Hamza Barry in the January transfer window.
Barry, 23, had spells with Valletta, Apollon Limassol, Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv before joining Hajduk in 2016, signing a one-year loan deal which then became permanent after a strong season.
The midfielder has notched one goal and five assists this term after bagging five goals and two assists last term, with his all-action displays in midfield catching the eye.
Just months after landing Vlasic, Everton may now return to raid Hajduk again, with Barry allegedly available for just £5million in January – though West Ham united are also keen.
Everton may well hope that Vlasic’s transition into life at Goodison Park will help Barry pick a move to Merseyside too, though fans may wonder whether another midfielder is really needed given the already-swelled numbers in the middle of the park.
