Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are hoping to pick off Huddersfield Town’s young players.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton are hoping to raid Huddersfield Town for youngsters Harvey Rowe and Sam Murray – but face major competition for their signatures.
Huddersfield have made a bright start to life in the Premier League, with just one defeat in their first five games, but they have made a surprise decision off the field.
The Terriers have decided to scrap their academy, deciding to only keep their Under-18 and Under-23 squads – and that means that a host of young players are free to leave the club.
It’s claimed that Huddersfield won’t be entitled to any compensation should academy players now sign forms with other clubs, and Premier League rivals appear to be sensing bargains.
The Daily Mail report that Manchester United have offered trials to 15 of Huddersfield’s Under-16 players in a bid to pick out the cream of the crop, with Rocco Fragapane and Harron Mahmood believed to be at Carrington already.
It’s added that Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City are also keen on Harvey Rowe and Sam Murray, but they are two of the players being invited to train with United as Huddersfield are left to wonder whether they made the right decision.
Everton have brought in the likes of Lewis Gibson, Dennis Adeniran and Josh Bowler as they look to snap up some of the country’s top young talents, and they will hope to add Rowe and Murray too.
The Toffees may be lagging behind United right now though, and it’s no wonder that the big Premier League clubs are queueing up to sign talented youngsters on free transfers.
