Everton are reportedly looking to reinvest some of the money raised from the transfer of John Stones on Juan Mata.
According to reports from the Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Everton are planning to reinvest a portion of the money raised from the recent sale of John Stones to Manchester City on Juan Mata.
After much speculation, Everton have gone on to sanction the sale of star defender John Stones to Manchester City and it has been reported that the Toffees have received around £47.5 million from the transaction.
While the departure of talented player such as Stones is most certainly a blow for Everton, it has to be said that the Toffees have been compensated handsomely and manager Ronald Koeman will now surely be looking to reinvest the funds on improving his squad.
It can be confirmed that Everton have already brought in a replacement for Stones in the form of Ashley Williams from Swansea City and now according to reports from De Telegraaf, Koeman is planning to further strengthen the Toffees side by signing Manchester United’s Juan Mata.
Mata’s future at Old Trafford has been put into doubt ever since Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager and to further fuel the speculation, the 28-year-old was embarrassingly subbed off late into the Community Shield final despite the player coming on as a substitute himself earlier on.
Everton have been linked with Mata all summer long and now if reports from the Netherlands are to be believed, the Toffees will be looking to ramp up their bid for the former Chelsea star in the coming days.
