Everton have reportedly lodged a huge bid for Manchester United duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay.
According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton have lodged a bid of £40million to secure the signature of Manchester United duo Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.
The Toffees are expected to be busy during the January transfer window after a poor run of results, with Ronald Koeman still moulding his own squad at Goodison Park.
Two positions appear to be of particular need for Everton in January; a midfielder who can dominate the middle of the park for years to come given that Gareth Barry is almost 36 and Idrissa Gueye heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, and a winger given that Yannick Bolasie has been ruled out for up to a year with a knee injury, and Koeman’s other options are below-par.

Now, Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Everton have submitted a bid of £40million for Manchester United duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, who would fill those needs for the Toffees.
French international Schneiderlin, 27, worked under Koeman at Southampton before joining United in the summer of 2015, and whilst he has struggled at Old Trafford, he was one of the Premier League’s top midfielders with Southampton.

Meanwhile, winger Depay was a big-money signing for the Red Devils in 2015, and arrived in England with huge expectations after hitting 28 goals for PSV Eindhoven during the 2014/14 season.
Unfortunately, the 22-year-old flopped in his first season, and has played just 20 minutes of Premier League action under Jose Mourinho this term, leading to rumours about his future – and Everton boss Koeman even told FOX Sports NL in November that he would like to work with fellow Dutchman Depay.
The rumours of a £40million are interesting, given that The Mirror claimed earlier this week that United would accept just £12.5million for Depay, and Sky Sports report that West Brom have offered £18million for Schneiderlin.
Combined, that’s just over £30million, though Everton may be willing to pay a little bit more to make sure they got both players, setting up deals for them as soon as the January transfer window opens.
