Everton left-back Robinson was in line to feature against England for USA.
BT Sport have reported that Everton defender Antonee Robinson has suffered an ankle injury and will be sidelined for four weeks – meaning he will miss USA’s friendly clash against England.
The 21-year-old was in America’s squad to face Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions at Wembley on Thursday evening, but has suffered the injury in training on Tuesday ahead of the friendly.
Robinson, who remains on the books at Everton and is highly-rated by those on Merseyside, is currently on loan with Championship side Wigan Athletic where he is furthering his development.
The left-back has made 15 appearances for Wigan and is excelling on the left side of defence, but will now return to Wigan after Thursday’s friendly in what will be a bitter blow for the player and indeed his loan side.
The match is poignant for another Everton reason, with Toffees legend Wayne Rooney reappearing for one-time only to play for England in the benefit of the DC United striker’s charity – the Wayne Rooney foundation.
Robinson, who was born in Milton Keynes but chose to play for America and has six caps, will miss the clash but Everton stars Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane could feature – with the latter being recalled by Southgate.
