Roma could tear up Pedro’s £80,000-a-week contract as Everton look to bring the former Chelsea forward back to the Premier League this summer, as reported by Corriere Roma.

As Arsenal fans will tell you – with Willian’s staggering pay-packet looking more expensive with every passing week – there is a substantial risk involved when handing a long-term contract to a 30-something veteran whose best years are consigned to the distant past.

Pedro, just one year into a three-year deal, is already proving to be a £4.2 million-a-year millstone hanging around Roma’s neck.

According to reports coming out of the Italian capital, the Giallorrossi are desperate to get the Barcelona legend off an already hefty wage bill.

Pedro is one of many big-name high-earners to have been tossed on the scrapheap by new Roma manager Jose Mourinho, left out of the club’s pre-season plans and forced to train alone.

Is former Chelsea ace Pedro heading back to the Premier League?

Calciomercato reported a few weeks ago that Everton are interested, with the Toffees looking to add some creativity and skill to an often toothless frontline.

Pedro, even at 33, still has a lot left in the tank, producing six goals and seven assists during his debut season at Roma.

A man with 25 trophies on his CV should bring a fierce winners’ mentality to Goodison Park too; an attitude that should rub off on budding youngsters like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate.

Pedro has tasted success in the Premier League, the Champions League and the World Cup, amongst others.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Pedro’s agent is working his fingers to the bone as he looks to find a new club for his client.

A number of La Liga clubs have expressed their interest, with the veteran forward also offered the chance to boost his an already impressive personal fortune in Qatar.
