Everton were strongly linked with Adrien Tameze this summer.

According to RMC Sport, Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze has rejected a move to Spartak Moscow, despite the offer being somewhat lucrative.

Tameze, 25, joined Nice from Valenciennes in 2017, and he has been a first-team regular ever since, attracting interest in the process.

A strong and combative midfielder with quality on the ball, Tameze has been linked with a move to the Premier League on a couple of occasions, most notably with Everton.

RMC Sport recently claimed that Everton had identified Tameze as a potential replacement for Idrissa Gueye, as he left Goodison Park for Paris Saint-Germain.

Everton eventually signed Jean-Philippe Gbamin instead, leaving Tameze to stay with Nice – and his future is somewhat up in the air right now.

Tameze has now allegedly rejected a move to Russia with Spartak Moscow, despite them offering him around £35,000-a-week, a more lucrative deal than the one he has with Nice, as he wants to play in a top five league.

Everton may still need one more midfielder come January, and with Tameze’s fee being just €10million (£9million), he could be a bargain signing in the next transfer window, and his rejection means he will remain available until January barring a late change of heart.

The Toffees may be wise to keep tabs on Tameze’s situation ahead of possibly rekindling their interest, and his desire to play in a major league at least gives them one advantage.
