Everton appear to have stolen a march on Tottenham in the race for Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City.
Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton have made the first move to try and sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, with reports in The Times and The Mirror both claiming a £25 million fee has been agreed.
The Iceland international is in demand after a fantastic season in which he scored nine goals and provided 13 assists.
A deal is far from done yet, with Sigurdsson rejecting Everton’s opening wage offer.

The Times report Sigurdsson is holding out for close to £130,000 a week, batting back the initial offer of £100,000.
The Mirror claims he currently earns £80,000 per week at Swansea City.

Everton can afford to meet Sugurdsson’s demands, having offered £140,000 a week to Romelu Lukaku earlier this year, The BBC reported. The striker is yet to sign that contract offer.
The setback could be damaging for Everton given the big interest in him from other clubs.
The London Evening Standard report Tottenham are considering re-signing him, while The Times claims Southampton are keen.
Spurs signed Sigurdsson in 2012 before selling him back to Swansea two years later.
Sigurdsson would be a replacement for Ross Barkley at Everton, who has been linked with Spurs by The Mirror.
