Everton are reportedly leading the race to sign to sign Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks.

David Brooks of Sheffield United looks on during the pre season friendly match between Sheffield United and Stoke City at Bramall Lane on July 25, 2017 in Sheffield, England.

According to reports from the Sunday People (printed edition; September 10th – press reader), Everton are leading the race for Sheffield United starlet David Brooks.

The 20-year-old is a highly talented midfielder, and Everton have been tracking his progress for a while now.

Brooks joined Sheffield United from Manchester City’s academy in 2014, and is yet to play a league game for the Blades. However, he has played four times in cup games so far.

Sheffield United were looking to send him on loan to Chesterfield as a part of the deal to re-sign striker Ched Evans. However, they pulled the plug on the deal following interest from Everton, as reported by the Telegraph in June.

It seems Everton still retain a strong interest in the player, and it remains to be seen whether they step up the interest with a concrete move.
