Everton and Wolves continue to be linked with Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

According to The Express, Everton are leading the race for Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin – but he’s also interested in what Wolves have to offer.
The Toffees have just announced the departure of star midfielder Idrissa Gueye, with the Senegal international moving back to France with Paris Saint-Germain.
Everton must find a replacement quickly, given Gueye’s importance to the Everton midfield, and the main name mentioned over the last week has been Gbamin.
It’s now believed that Everton are leading the race for his signature, and Mainz will sell if their £30million asking price is met, with Nantes ace Abdoulaye Toure lined up to replace him.
However, it’s also claimed that Wolves are interested in Gbamin, and he’s ‘enchanted’ by both projects, meaning a battle may be on the cards.
Gbamin, 23, is a strong and combative holding midfielder with ability on the ball and a turn of pace, potentially an ideal replacement for Gueye.

Yet with Wolves able to offer European football, they present a very real threat to Everton’s hopes of signing Gbamin under Nuno Espirito Santo.
His versatility to play at centre back will be hugely appealing, especially to Wolves given that Leander Dendoncker can play similar roles, but Everton leading the race may well mean that a move is being pressed forward after Gueye’s exit was confirmed.
