According to The Mirror, Everton have joined the race to sign Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu in a bargain £10million deal.
It’s claimed that Everton have asked to be ‘kept informed’ on developments surrounding Salisu. This appears to mark their first contact over a potential move.
Southampton are very keen, whilst Manchester United are interested too. Atletico Madrid fancy Salisu, and could move to try and keep him in Spain.
Salisu has a release clause of just £10million, meaning he could be an absolute bargain. Clubs won’t want to spend much this summer due to the global pandemic, making Salisu very appealing.
The Ghanaian is big and strong at 6ft 3in tall, whilst he has shown a turn of pace and an impressive reading of the game for his age. Add in that he is left-footed and can bring balance to a back four, and Salisu is some prospect.
Everton have already been linked with one left-footed centre back in Lille’s Gabriel, but have so far been unable to secure his signature.

Salisu could emerge as an alternative, and would arrive at a fraction of the price. At just 21, Salisu could be worth much, much more than £10million in the future, and that’s the kind of deal Marcel Brands would love.
Everton have only asked for information on Salisu rather than indicating they will make a bid, but he ticks many boxes for the Toffees this summer.
