Everton have become the latest club to register an interest in the exciting 17-year-old.

A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Everton have joined a host of Europe’s heavyweights in the race to sign Alexander Isak, and that the Toffees are hopeful that they will be able to win the chase for his signature.

The 17-year-old has been attracting a huge amount of attention after enjoying a stunning debut season in the Swedish top flight with AIK.

His 10 goals in just 24 games has seen him move onto the radar of some of the continent’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Mail.

And while the quintet will be able to use their amount of experience in the Champions League during their attempts to try and lure the youngster – who the Mail report will cost £14m – to their respective clubs, the Mail suggests that the Toffees are still hopeful about their chances of winning the race.

That is because Everton will point out to the prospect that he faces a much easier route to the first-team if he moves to Goodison Park than he does if he joins one of the other sides in the running.

While it would inevitably be a gamble to pay such an amount for a youngster that has enjoyed one great season, it appears that Isak is quickly developing all of the attributes that will enable him to realise his enormous potential.

And if they do manage to win the race, and Isak turns out to be the player that many expect him to become, then Everton will surely feel that the £14m spent on him was an absolute bargain.
