According to The Mirror, Everton are eyeing up a move to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi – a long-term favourite of director of football Steve Walsh.
The Toffees swooped to sign one central midfielder over the summer in Idrissa Gueye, and he has certainly impressed so far this season.

However, with Gareth Barry not getting any younger and questions over Darron Gibson’s long-term future at Goodison Park, manager Ronald Koeman may yet move to bring in another midfielder.
Now, The Mirror report that Everton are keen to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, with director of football Steve Walsh seemingly driving the interest.

Back in June, The Sun suggested that Leicester – who then had Walsh working as a talent spotter – were looking to snap up N’Zonzi, but they ended up going for Nampalys Mendy instead.
Now, with Walsh at Everton, the Toffees appear keen to offer N’Zonzi a return to the Premier League, having made almost 200 top flight appearances for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before joining Sevilla last summer.

The Frenchman, 27, was a key player for Sevilla last season as they won the Europa League, and his performances appear to have won Walsh’s admiration.
It’s claimed that N’Zonzi would cost more than £20m due to a release clause in his contract, and Everton’s Farhad Moshiri is reportedly happy to sanction the deal as he looks to invest in new signings.
