Everton have joined the race to sign Joao Mario, according to a report.

Joao Mario of FC Internazionale Milano looks on during the Serie A match between FC Internazionale and Spal at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on September 10, 2017 in Milan, Italy.

According to FC Inter News, Everton have joined the race to sign out-of-favour winger Joao Mario.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Inter this month after managing just five Serie A starts all season.

West Ham United have also been linked but, according to Calciomercato, the Portugal international doesn’t want to join the Irons.

And it seems like Everton are now in the mix as FC Inter News report Sam Allardyce’s side as one of the teams interested in signing him.

But the report adds that the former Sporting star is looking for a side that has Champions League football, which not only rules out Everton now, but the Toffees are very unlikely to have that next season either.

Everton have already added Theo Walcott for the tune of around £20 million, so it remains to be seen if the Goodison Park club are interested in another wide player.

Aaron Lennon is expected to join Burnley soon, but it’s likely that Walcott is his replacement on Merseyside.

Mario is a big talent who cost Inter £38 million just 18 months ago, but his lack of success in Italy should be a warning for English sides.
