Premier League Everton reportedly have four potential Idrissa Gueye replacements – Bakayoko, Lucas Tousart, Adrien Tameze and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
Everton have identified Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko as a potential replacement for PSG-bound Idrissa Gana Gueye, according to RMC Sport.
Obviously, The Toffees are keen to overlook just how bad the France international was in his debut Premier League season for Chelsea in 2017/18.
The Blues paid £40 million to bring Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge after he helped Monaco lift the Ligue 1 title, as reported by the BBC, but the West London giants didn’t exactly get much for their investment.
Bakayoko looked clumsy and ineffective in English football with his penchant for a misplaced pass and a mistimed tackle hardly helping matters.
Yet, after a largely impressive loan spell at AC Milan, RMC Sport claims that Everton are willing to offer the 24-year-old a second chance on UK shores with the influential Gueye expected to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
The report also names three other players on Everton’s radar; Nice’s Adrien Tameze, Mainz’s Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Lyon’s France U21 captain Lucas Tousart.
Everton have apparently made contact with the latter, who is valued at £18 million, though they are expected to face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Lyon enforcer.
Tenacious and technically gifted, not to mention a natural-born leader at just 22, Tousart would perhaps be the best option for Everton. Particularly when you consider how much Bakayoko struggled in Chelsea colours.
