According to Calciomercato, Everton have opened talks with Juventus over the signing of Aaron Ramsey, who is available on a free transfer.
What’s the story?
Well, Ramsey is surplus to requirements in Turin, and Calciomercato believe Everton have initiated contact with the Italian giants.
It is said that Juventus are ‘crossing their fingers’ for the deal to go through, as they desperately want to get the Welshman off the wage bill.
According to the BBC, Ramsey earns £400,000-a-week.
Such is their desire to offload him, Juventus will even agree to terminate his contract so he can join Everton on a free transfer.
For a player with 262 Premier League appearances under his belt, that is a very enticing prospect for the Toffees and Rafa Benitez.
So far this season, Ramsey has only made three Serie A appearances, all of which amount to just 97 minutes.
Should Everton sign Aaron Ramsey?

In our view, this would be a very Marcel Brands signing from Everton, even though the Dutchman has now departed Goodison Park.
An injury prone 30-year-old, who commands huge wages and hasn’t looked like his old self for years now, is exactly what the Toffees don’t want.
Of course, Ramsey is still a quality player, but Everton must move away from this type of signing for the sake of their future.

It isn’t a sustainable approach, to say the least.
Signings in a similar mould to Ben Godfrey and Demarai Gray are the way forward for Everton, rather than ageing players exiting their prime years.
